Eleanor Medhurst
Eleanor Medhurst is a historian of queer fashion and culture, and the founder of the website Dressing Dykes (dressingdykes.com). Eleanor's first book, Unsuitable: A History of Lesbian Fashion, was published in 2024, and was longlisted for the Bread and Roses Award for Radical Publishing. Her work has been featured in the likes of the New York Times, Vogue and the Guardian. Eleanor has also received widespread recognition for her educational social media content, from being highlighted in TikTok's Visionary Voices list in 2024 to becoming a finalist for Influencer of the Year at the 2025 DIVA Awards.
Since launching Dressing Dykes in 2020, Eleanor has given talks and guest lectures across the world, from Tate Modern and the University of Oxford to the Bauhaus University in Berlin and Sophia University in Tokyo. She has written for numerous academic books and journals, including Crafted with Pride (2023) and Queering Desire (2024), and is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Brighton. In 2026 Eleanor explored celebrity fashion with the publication of Billie Eilish: The story of a fashion legend. Polychromatic is her third book.
