Kneeling in a ditch, in 2011, a journalist from Cote D'Ivoire waits for the bullet that will end it all. But Ali survives and vows to build a new life with his girlfriend in Paris, risking everything to get there.
In 2024 Nour learns she will be deported from Europe. Instead, she tries to flee from France to Britain on a smuggler's boat, a gamble for which she and her young family will pay a terrible price.
As Nour, Khazman, Ali, and their families navigate immense danger, loss and hope across borders, their stories capture enduring truths about home and belonging.
