The Outer Hebrides, 1900.

Joseph Moore, a young lighthouse keeper, discovers a tragedy. His three fellow keepers on Eilean Mòr have vanished without a trace. On the mainland, Louisa Ducat, the seventeen-year-old daughter of one of the disappeared, waits for her father to come home...

As Louisa searches for answers to her father's fate and Joseph wrestles with the toll of what he witnessed, the two are drawn together in a fragile bond of love and longing. All the while the darkness is closing in. Whispers haunt the island and human apparitions move through the fog. Louisa and Joseph soon realise the disappearances may not be over and they might be next.
