From Russia with Laughs

Hardback

Synopsis

In 2015, Milo Edwards graduated from university and saw most of his friends go off to jobs in law and consultancy. But Milo had a slightly different plan - or rather, two plans that unexpectedly merged.

Milo hatched a plan for a gap year in Moscow, after previous trips to the city helped spark an obsession with Russia. He'd spend the time there private tutoring, partying and generally having the great adventure that he felt the country could give him. Once the year was over, he'd come back to London and use his experience performing stand-up whilst at university to become a comedian. Simple enough.

What followed was a voyage into modern day Russia that must be read to be believed - from being recruited to perform Russian-language stand-up on TNT television and gigging around the country, to coming second on the Russian version of Britain's Got Talent, and becoming a Russian TV celebrity in the process.

From Russia with Laughs sees Milo delve into his hilarious and outrageous experiences living in Russia, shines a light on the character of the people and the place itself and discovering what it's really like to be a part of the country's diverse and surprising culture.

Simultaneously a rare and entertaining look into the day-to-day life of Russians and a serious look at Russia's place in the world today, this is a unique look behind the (iron) curtain and what it is to be an outsider dropped into the very heart of Putin's Russia.
